In the spirit of him being sick and cranky I haven't been able to finish his Mohawk hat.. BUT I've decided that he is going to wear it for his one year pictures, so it will be done soon!
I've begun the process of planning Grayson's First Birthday Party! Since everything we have done this year has been in Chicago Cubs - (His bedroom, coming home outfit, Christmas decorating, taking a trip to Chicago in June/going to a Cubs game) - we decided to go all out Chicago Cub style for his birthday! I have some GREAT ideas for the decorating and such! I cannot wait! I've created a checklist and have lots of decorating ideas! I'm going to use the various Cub's logos to hang from the ceiling/tables/mail box. Get some red and blue streamers, we found some baseball plates and ball field napkins, plus I'm toying with the idea of getting a set of Chicago Cubs plates/napkins/cups for the cake table. I'm having the party at my Grandfathers, which I am super thankful for him letting us use his home and saving me a lot of money having to rent a hall or something. There is a whole basement with a bar with nothing in it, plus right off that room (and down a few steps) is a beautiful in-ground pool! Yay! Food, eh, I'm still kind of thinking about what I'm going to do 100% but I'm thinking of doing Shredded Chicken Sandwiches and BBQ Shredded Pork Sandwiches. Plus a lot of little finger foods, and other sweets for those that don't like cake.. I'm going to do water bottles with cubs logos over the paper, some sort of delicious punch, and a little bit of soda/pop. We are thinking of getting him a Teddy Ruxpin, and I've been looking at some "My First Cubs Tee" t-shirts for him, and a few other Cubs stuff to stick with the spirit of the theme. I'm going to be doing a photo shoot with him in a couple months -- the end of April-ish -- with his little red Mohawk hat and I'm going to try and create a cubs logo (*crosses fingers* I hope it works) and I am going to buy little red and blue balloons and I'm going to write on them "Grayson's First Birthday" I'm going to take the pictures out in the bright green grass, make them really vibrant and colorful. I can't wait! I see it in my head so well.
Onward! I baked some great cookies this morning!! They are delicious! I got the recipe from allrecipes.com they are called Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies -- here is the recipe:
Ingredients
These cookies turned out perfectly! (350 degrees for 10 mins). |
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the peanut butter, vanilla and egg until well blended. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the batter just until moistened. Mix in the oats and chocolate chips until evenly distributed. Drop by tablespoonfuls on to lightly greased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges start to brown. Cool on cookie sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Umm.. OH! I had a 8X10 frame laying around with a super old picture of me and my brothers and my cousin, Paris. So I decided that it was time for an update (my cousin was 18 months old - she is now 16..) so I made this for the picture frame:
I love how bright and colorful these pictures are! I'm so proud of these! I'm really excited to see how the 1yr pictures come out! I'm doing the photography, editing, and designing - for the first time. I've never taken the pictures.. but I can't wait to try!
Let's see what else have I been up too?! Humm... Oh yes. so for Grayson's birthday party I'm hoping to be able to have this DVD done of his life thus far.. I hope I can sit down and actually manage my time better until this party, there is so much I want to get done! Plus I'm going to be making his shirt to wear for his big day! I'm pretty stoked about it actually! I'm going to die it various shades of blue and then have the cubs logo on it, with his last name across the back and the number 1 on the back. :)
